Egypt wins cyber drill during the regional cybersecurity week
The National Center for Computer Emergency Readiness Team (EG-CERT) won first place in the Cyber ​​Drill competition held at the conclusion of the regional cybersecurity week hosted by Oman.
The week witnessed the participation of 15 specialized teams from 14 countries, including (Egypt, the Emirates, Yemen, Uzbekistan, Palestine, Qatar, Pakistan, Malaysia, Jordan, Libya, Brunei, Bahrain, Somalia), with the aim of shedding light on best practices and policies in the field of cybersecurity, in addition to effective mechanisms to address cyber threats and their effects on countries, institutions and individuals, and the necessary measures to enhance cooperation between Arab countries and relevant international institutions.
The closing day witnessed the holding of the seventh edition of the regional exercise to assess readiness to respond to information emergencies (Cyber ​​Drill), and the idea of ​​the exercise is based on implementing virtual cyber attacks that are analyzed by the participating teams and discovering the necessary ways to recover from them and reduce their effects.
This year, 6 scenarios were implemented, including a cyber attack on smart city applications, an attack on IoT systems, and interactive scenarios presented.
