EG-CERT Participates in Launching 2nd Edition of Cybersecurity Academy for Youth – Summer 2025

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the second edition of the Cybersecurity Academy for Juniors and Youth was launched under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology. The Academy’s second edition is implemented by the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) in cooperation with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), the Egyptian Computer Emergency Readiness Team (EG-CERT), in partnership with MCS Company, and sponsored by elite global cybersecurity companies: (Palo Alto Networks / Google Cloud Security / F5 / Trellix).
The Academy aims to train 5,000 trainees across different age groups through three training tiers, in order to prepare young national cyber cadres capable of safeguarding cyberspace by equipping them with advanced digital skills that support secure digital transformation and meet labor market needs.
Three Training Tiers:
- School Students (10–17 years old): 2,000 trainees: Interactive training on safe online presence and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- University Students: 2,000 trainees: Advanced technical training and freelancing skills.
- Graduates: 1,000 trainees: Practical in-company training at sponsor companies’ premises for labour market qualification and penetration.

✓ The program is fully tuition-free
✓ Free transportation means are offered from central gathering points
In his speech during the Opening Ceremony, Dr. Ahmed Khattab, Director of NTI, affirmed that the Academy exemplifies public-private sector collaboration, providing trainees with international expertise for labour market readiness, emphasizing freelancing skills and practical training.
In addition, Eng. Walid Zakaria, the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) Vice President for Cybersecurity Affairs, stressed that cybersecurity is a national imperative, and that Egypt ranks among the world’s top 12 nations in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI), thanks to the efforts of the MCIT and its partners. He noted that EG-CERT team secured 1st-place win in the largest international cyber drill, with the participation of 138 countries. He concluded his speech to the trainees by saying: “You, future heroes, will be the first line of defence for our digital infrastructure, data, and all our cherished digital assets in our cyberspace.”
In his turn, Eng. Tarek Shabaka, MCS Chairman, stated: “The Academy reflects private sector commitment to youth upskilling. In fact, investing in youth is foundational for achieving sustainable cybersecurity.”
The initiative, as part of the MCIT’s strategy implementation, aims to build young national cadres capable of protecting Egypt’s cyberspace by empowering them with advanced digital skills that support secure digital transformation and align with labour market requirements.
