Egypt leads ARCC’s cyberdrill

In an event that reflects Egypt’s growing capabilities in cybersecurity, the Egyptian team won the first place in the cyberdrill that took place during the Regional Cybersecurity Week 2023 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The EG-CERT team was able to lead all cyberdrill competitions that included 66 teams representing more than 50 African, Asian and European countries, in the 11th cyberdrill organized by the Arab Regional Center for Cybersecurity under the umbrella of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-ARCC). In cooperation with the Center for Internet Security (CIS) and the National Center for Computer and Network Emergency Preparedness of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Countries (OIC-CERT), which is considered one of the most important annual events in the field of cybersecurity.
Egypt’s superiority in the cyberdrill was a reflection of the state’s capabilities in enhancing cybersecurity for vital infrastructure and national information systems. Government efforts have contributed to developing national capabilities in the field of cybersecurity.
The cyberdrills organized by the Arab Regional Center for Cybersecurity are an important opportunity to exchange experiences and enhance regional cooperation in the field of cybersecurity. The exercise contributed to enhancing the capabilities of the participating teams from various countries in detecting and addressing cyber threats.
The cyberdrill includes many challenges, such as hacking computer systems, decrypting data, and discovering malicious software, and the participating teams work to use their skills and experience to solve them successfully.
