Egypt achieves second place in the international cyberdrill at the UAE
The Egyptian National Center for Computer and Network Emergency Readiness (EG-CERT), which affiliated with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), achieved a major success during the international cyberdrill which organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in cooperation with the UAE Cyber Security Council in Dubai.
The Egyptian team came in second place out of 108 countries participated in the drill with the aim of testing its defensive and proactive capabilities against cyber attacks and risks.
Egypt began the drill strongly and topped the rankings on the first day.
On the second day, the Egyptian team achieved fourth place during the “Criminal Activities Tracking” test.
And on the final day, the Egyptian team finished the drill in second place behind Albania, and Turkey came in third, and received special honor from Dr. Mohammed Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council.
The EG-CERT continuously participates in national, regional and international cyberdrills. Last October, it achieved first place in the international drill that took place on the sidelines of the Regional Cyber Security Week in Abu Dhabi.
This is in contrast to the national cyberdrills organized by the Center with the participation of critical information infrastructure sectors in the Egyptian state, with the aim of strengthening the capabilities of government institutions and bodies and improving their response to cyber incidents.
Cyberdrills contribute to identifying weak points in security systems, assessing the efficiency of emergency response plans, improving communications and cooperation between cyber security teams, training workers on appropriate security procedures, and increasing awareness of cyber risks.
